So often I hear during Social Media Training sessions “I’m going to have to get over talking about myself” or “I don’t want to come across as arrogant”

Let me let you into a little secret here – “I’m shy as hell, always have been since I was a child and confidence is something I’ve acquired over the years simply in the setting of I do my job really well” – put me in a non work context and I’m still really shy

Selling is an essential skill set in business and that is why I believe you shouldn’t be afraid of selling and actually learn to love it

Here are 10 Reasons You Shouldn’t Be Afraid Of Selling

  1. You are 100% confident about your skills and knowledge and people come to you for expert advice
  2. It’s not actually selling if you’re helping people – it’s just helping more and more people
  3. The value you give is always greater than the money received – that’s why people are prepared to spend with you
  4. The worst thing you can do is have the knowledge and not spread that with people
  5. You have testimonials and recommendations from Customers saying how good you are – selling is having that belief in yourself
  6. You have no problem recommending other businesses – selling is just recommending the business you know inside out
  7. Sales are what the 10,000 hours of practice, education and courses all lead up to – it would be like never ever skipping a class in high school and simply not turning up for exams for the expected result
  8. There’s enough business within 5 miles of your front door to build an empire – you just have to sell
  9. If you treat your business like a business, it will pay you like a business. If you treat it like a hobby, it will pay you like a hobby
  10.  There’s a limit to how many costs you can cut, the only limit to your sales and growth is your ability to sell
