Altrincham HQ of Greater Manchester has been selected as the regional finalist for the North West of England in the National Small Business Big Heart Awards in association with BusinessesForSale.com.

The award has been given for the many good deeds the company undertakes including organising the annual Altrincham VS Cancer run for the Christie in Manchester, a 5k run which involves 28 local businesses each year. To date Altrincham vs Cancer has raised £10,000 for the Christie to help the fight against cancer.

Rufus Bazley, Marketing Director at BusinessesForSale.com said: “We were very impressed with the charitable efforts of Altrincham HQ. It’s evident that the business is committed to creating a positive impact in their area through some incredible fundraising activities which involve and engage the whole community.”

Alex McCann, Founder of Altrincham HQ says, “Altincham vs Cancer is when the whole Altrincham community come together to remember loved ones and do their bit to help kick cancer. I genuinely don’t think there is a more worthy charity than the Christie in the UK. The Christie treats more than 44,000 patients a year – that’s more than the population of my home town treated every single year.”

“My hope is that other towns take the baton with what we do with Altrincham VS Cancer and run events such as this in their home town for The Christie” he adds.

Lindsey Farthing of The Christie says, “It is thanks to supporters like Altrincham HQ that we are able to fund projects that lie outside the scope of the NHS, including advanced facilities, ground-breaking research, specialist equipment and additional support. Alex has truly been a driving force behind the event. He’s committed to making it bigger and better year on year. Thank you to Alex and Altrincham HQ for your loyal support”

Angela Stone of the Altrincham Town Centre Partnership has been one of the charity’s runners since the first event, she comments, “”I’ve been involved in Altrincham v Cancer since Alex launched the fundraising idea four years ago. It’s the first annual group charity activity established in Altrincham. Much as I hate running I’m always happy to sign up to join in!”

In all there are 10 regional finalists in the Small Business Big Heart Awards, one of which will be selected as the overall winner and be given £1,000 towards a good cause of its choice.

“Every year the BusinessesForSale.com Small Business Big Heart Awards demonstrate how much the small business community across the UK does for charities, organisations and individuals that might otherwise be overlooked. Every one of our finalists is exemplary, it will be hard to select a winner.” Rufus continues.

The national overall winner of the 2018 Small Business Big Heart Awards will be announced on February 14th.
