Last week Altrincham HQ along with Our Altrincham and Altrincham Town Centre Partnership we’re invited to local restaurant La Rioja to test the new menu out and do a live tweet review of the night

Let me fill you in first with a bit of background

La Rioja is a restaurant that has been based in Altrincham for over 20 years, has been massively successful in drawing diners in from Hale and Bowdon and into Altrincham Town Centre and is very much a business that has survived by old fashioned word of mouth

Owner, chef & all round Altrincham man about town Barry Cooperman was to say the least a sceptic at first about twitter

In fact sceptic might have been too kind a word

Now you should see his face when a vibration comes on his phone, the tweet is read and litle grin rounds his face as he say’s the words “Look i’m tweeting – i’m a tweet”

Social Media is online word of mouth and as Barry reports, since the live tweet review, the business in just a few days from twitter alone has been great

“I have been amazed by the response and positive feedback as well as bookings that we have received through using Twitter. We received an almost instant response on bookings that were made through Twitter and we estimate that we have had a minimum of 30 covers booked through Twitter. There has also been a marked increase in traffic to our website and facebook due to this exposure. I am no longer number one sceptic @tapaslarioja #altrincham.”

Our live twitter review was an intense example of what can happen when customers tweet about your restaurant, but imagine every single weekend harnessing the power of twitter – how that traditional word of mouth that has always been around is amplified on twitter, facebook, checked in on 4square and letting your customers advertise for you

At Altrincham HQ we work with many restaurants and bars that work well online – and see many examples of restaurants and bars that do social media very poorly (often on what we call outsourced Social Media lite packages)

Get in touch with us re: Social Media Training or Management that delivers very real results and ROI

PS. let us know what you think of the lovely photos below – Altrincham HQ is a veggie and both Our Altrincham / ATCP are meat eaters so something for everybody

  1. […] Why Online Was Important For Them? Barry was a skeptic of Social Media before the aforementioned menu tasting which we tweeted at throughout. The results speak for themselves as 34 covers were through twitter on the weekend following. Read the full blog on this here https://altrinchamhq.co.uk/blog/la-rioja-and-twitter-marketing/ […]
