Introduce your business and tell us what you’ve been up to recently?
The Zipyard, the UKs premier clothing alterations and repairs centre. We pride ourselves on being the first garment alteration retail outlets to appear on the high street. Everything from rips, zips, shortening, lengthening, taking in and taking out, nothing is impossible! We can also fix your favourite handbags and purses and can make, alter and repair your curtains and soft furnishings. And these are just a small example fo the things we do.
What makes you different from other similar businesses in the area?
Our success has been built on quality and speed of service, convenient locations and competitive pricing. All of this, along with our modern hi-tech tracking system allows us to provide a service that guarantees 100% customer satisfaction everytime. At The Zip Yard we have listened to what our customers are saying and in direct response we have launched our 1 hr express service for minor repairs, zips and hems.
Looking back, which piece of advice would you give to somebody setting up their own business today?
Its a big step openign up your own business and you have to be 100% sure and committed. Do your research and know your market inside out. Be prepared for a very stressful few months.
What part does Social Media play in your business?
Huge, we get a lot of business through social media and for the sake of a few minutes a day its something that every business should do more. Its a great way to interact with your customers and get feedback on your business.

Where do you eat / take out in Altrincham?
The Gonbay Chinese in the downs, fantastic food and really friendly people.
Which is your favourite pub or bar to drink at in Altrincham?
My local is the King George near Altrincham FC, but any pub showing a United match will do for me.
Where is your essential must visit shop in Altrincham?
From a business point of view Holts Business Solutions are a fantastic company to save you money. On a personal level it has to be Yogberries.
What’s been the most impressive new business you’ve seen open in Altrincham in the past 12 months
My wife loves Face Values on Moss Lane and Wilkinsons has been a great and much needed addition to Altrincham.
In an ideal world What major improvement would you like to see happen in Altrincham?
Simple, no more empty shop units.
